These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the iPhone app "Hachibu" (the "App") and the web pages we provide with it, including the booking page that people who open your booking link see and the authorization page for connecting Claude or ChatGPT (together, the "Service").
This is a translation. If it differs from the Japanese original, the Japanese original prevails.
The Service is operated by Teco G.K. (合同会社テコ, "we" or "us"). The Hachibu Pro subscription ("Pro") is sold on the App Store by the seller named in our Legal Notice (the "Seller"). "We" includes the Seller where these Terms refer to liability.
1. Agreement
- These Terms apply to everyone who uses the Service ("you").
- By starting to use the App, you agree to these Terms.
- Our Privacy Policy is part of these Terms.
2. What the Service does — and what it does not promise
The Service adds travel and prep time to the events in your calendar and shows how much time you really have left in the day ("time left"). By using it, you understand that:
- Travel times are estimates. They come from Apple's maps service (MapKit). Traffic, weather, accidents, road conditions, finding parking and other factors can make the actual time different.
- Prep times are defaults. They may differ from the time you actually need.
- We do not guarantee when alerts appear. Alerts, the leave-time countdown (Live Activity) and widgets are scheduled on your iPhone, and iOS decides when they are shown. Depending on your settings (Focus, Low Power Mode, notification permissions, quitting the app, etc.) or iOS itself, they may be late, may not appear, or may stay on screen longer than intended.
- Time left is an estimate. It is calculated from the events in your calendar, the working hours you set and the tasks you connect. It does not guarantee that you will be on time or that your tasks will get done. If your calendar or tasks are wrong, the result will be wrong too.
- Events without a known place get no travel time. If an event has no place, or the place cannot be found, no travel or prep time is subtracted for it.
- Use other reminders for important events. For anything you cannot be late for (a flight or train, an exam, a medical appointment, a contract signing, etc.), also use calendar alarms, alarm clocks, transit apps or other means.
- The Service depends on things outside our control, such as iOS, Apple's maps service, your calendar and task apps, and network connections. Changes or problems in them may make all or part of the Service unavailable.
3. Hachibu Pro
- Pro is an auto-renewable subscription sold by the Seller on the App Store. Prices, free trials, renewal and how to cancel are shown on the purchase screen and in our Legal Notice.
- Purchases, payments, cancellations and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms. We do not receive your payment information.
- Pro includes the features shown on the purchase screen. Features marked "coming" are not promised for any particular date.
- We may change Pro features to improve them. If we end a feature that matters to you, we will tell you in advance in the App or on the web.
4. Booking links
- A booking link lets the people who open it ("guests") see the times that are still open in the slots you picked, after travel and prep.
- You decide, at your own discretion and responsibility, whom you share a link with, whether to accept or decline a request, and how you contact a guest. We are not part of any arrangement, communication or transaction between you and a guest.
- The open times on the guest page reflect the last time your link was synced. Events added later may mean a time is no longer actually open.
- When guests use the booking page, Sections 2.7, 7, 8 and 10–14 of these Terms also apply to them. Guest information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Connecting Claude or ChatGPT
- When you allow a connection, the answer your iPhone calculates (time left, open times, leave-at times and a short explanation) is passed to Anthropic PBC (Claude) or OpenAI, L.L.C. (ChatGPT) when you ask from those services. Event names, places, attendees and task names are not passed.
- How those answers are used is governed by each provider's terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for their services or how they use the answers.
- The App may be unable to answer, for example in Low Power Mode or after you quit it.
6. Task app connections
Connections to Todoist, Microsoft To Do, Google Tasks and other task apps are subject to each service's terms. Changes to or the end of those services may stop a connection from working.
7. Prohibited conduct
You (and guests) must not:
- break the law or act against public order and morals;
- put excessive load on, gain unauthorized access to, or interfere with our servers, networks or operations;
- disassemble, decompile or reverse-engineer the App, except as permitted by law;
- use booking links or connections to harass, spam or impersonate others;
- infringe the rights or interests of others; or
- do anything else we reasonably consider inappropriate.
8. Changes, suspension and ending the Service
- We may suspend all or part of the Service without notice for maintenance, failures or reasons outside our control (Section 2.7).
- We may change or end the Service. If we end Pro, we will give reasonable notice.
- If you break Section 7, we may stop your use of features that rely on our servers, such as booking links and connections.
9. Intellectual property
All intellectual property rights in the Service belong to us or the rightful owners. You receive a license to use the App personally under these Terms; no other rights are transferred.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not warrant that the Service fits your particular purpose, is accurate or useful to the degree you expect, or is free of errors or interruptions (including those described in Section 2). This does not apply to damage caused by our intent or gross negligence.
11. Limitation of liability
- Except where we acted intentionally or with gross negligence, and only where damage results from our ordinary (slight) negligence, our liability for damage arising from the Service is limited as follows:
- We are liable only for direct and ordinary damage you actually suffer (not lost profits, indirect damage or damage arising from special circumstances).
- Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for Pro in the month the damage occurred (for an annual subscription, one-twelfth of the annual price). If you do not subscribe to Pro (including during a free trial), and for guests, our liability is limited to JPY 1,000.
- The limits above do not apply to damage caused by our intent or gross negligence.
- Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence and any statutory rights you have as a consumer in your country of residence. Where the Consumer Contract Act of Japan or other applicable law does not allow the above, that law applies.
12. Changes to these Terms
- We may change these Terms in accordance with Article 548-4 of the Civil Code of Japan.
- We will announce the changes and when they take effect in the App or on the web, a reasonable time before they take effect. Changes that are unfavorable to you will be announced at least 14 days before they take effect.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
- These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence.
- The Sapporo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance over disputes about the Service. If you are a consumer, you may also bring a claim in the courts that the law of your country of residence allows.

15. If you got the App from Apple's App Store
If you obtained the App from the App Store, the following also applies.
- These Terms are between you and us, not Apple Inc. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
- Your license is limited to using the App on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
- If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price under its terms. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App (including product liability, failure to conform to legal requirements, and consumer protection claims).
- If a third party claims the App infringes its intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance, Apple has the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
